As our state, nation, and world brace for the demands of navigating a global pandemic with COVID-19, we are reminded of just how important it is for us to work and act as global citizens — people who understand that we live in an interconnected world.

The major events of September 11, 2001, the invasion of Afghanistan and Global War on Terror that followed, and the Iraq War that began in 2003 were earlier events in this century (millennium) that had a similar impact on many of us who sought global peace and cooperation. We were inspired to take action to create or support non-profits or transform our schools to do our part to contribute to an alternative future.

The Washington State Coalition for International Education was formed in spring 2003, as an affiliation of individuals and organizations committed to preparing all students for today’s interconnected world.

We think it’s time to come together again. We invite all educators and stakeholders in International/Global Education to join us. We will be posting more opportunities to support students and teachers to make global connections, even during this time of “social distancing.” We will also help community organizations and schools get the word out about future events and opportunities, once we are in a position to gather together in person again.

How?

  • Sign up now for our newsletter.
That will help us connect with you.
  • Visit our Events page to find out about events that are happening now virtually or will happen in the future in person.
  • If you have future events you would like shared, email the information to: intledwa@gmail.com.

Stay safe and stay connected!
