AATSEEL Virtual College Fair and Open House for Russian and Central/East European Languages

Do you know high school students who might be interested in studying Russian and Central/East European Languages in college? Please share this information about the AATSEEL Virtual College Fair and Open Houses this spring. 

The University of Washington Slavic Department is pleased to participate for the first time in this virtual college fair and open house, organized by AATSEEL (American Association of Teachers of Slavic and East European Languages). We are currently scheduled for the April 14, 2026  session  4-5:30 pm Pacific Time, but we may add more sessions. Please come check the UW and the Slavic Department out!

Hosted by the American Association of Teachers of Slavic and East European Languages (AATSEEL)

We are bringing professors from over 40 college and university Slavic Departments in the U.S. to meet with high school students who are currently studying or may be interested in studying Russian or another East European Language in college.

Join us to learn more about:

  • Scholarships, internships, and other opportunities available to students of Russian
  • Studying Russian language along with other subjects such as international relations, business, cybersecurity, cultural studies, and more
  • Using Russian in future careers 
  • Russian courses in college
  • Study abroad opportunities
  • The professors you could study with in college
  • Opportunities for studying Slavic, Central, and East European languages beyond Russian

The fair will be open April 7 – May 31, 2026. 

Visit colleges’ virtual booths any time to view promotional videos, presentations, brochures, and more to get information about each schools’ program and offerings for language study.

All of the participating programs teach Russian. Some teach other languages as well, and to help you find a school that meets your needs, we’ve organized a special booth for the other Central and East European Languages. 

We also have two Study Abroad companies at the Fair: American Councils and SRAS

Meet professors from featured colleges and universities LIVE on the following dates:
April  14, April 23, April 29 and May 4

Presentations will be in English. Reference sheets for each college or university will be provided wherever possible in English, Spanish, and Russian.
